Vendor Spotlight: Karen Marie Designs, Jewelry with a Past and a Future
Looking for the perfect piece to finish an outfit, or a gift that feels special without costing a fortune? Head to the jewelry display from Karen Marie Designs at The Lazy Daisy.
Karen doesn't stock the same jewelry you'll find at every mall. Her collection is hand-picked, and many pieces have a history. Here is how it started, in her own words.
How it all began
About 20 years ago, Karen decided to challenge her creative side and started making jewelry. While shopping for beads, she came across a bag of antique jewelry, and she was hooked.
"Going thru the bags was like Christmas to me, you never know what hidden treasures you will find."
She loved the chance to bring antique pieces back to life, either by making them shine again or by using their parts to create something new.
Pieces with a second life
Many of Karen's finds come from friends. When a jewelry-loving relative passes away, friends sometimes pass those pieces along to her. In Karen's view, the jewelry gets new life by bringing joy to someone new. It's a lovely thought to carry with you when you pick out a ring or a bracelet.
Prices made for the hunt
Karen enjoys the search so much that she keeps her prices reasonable, hoping to send each piece on to its next destination so she can keep looking. That's good news for you. Here's what we spotted on the tags:
- Earrings: $8
- Rings: $10 to $14
- Bracelets and bangles: $10 to $14
- Necklaces: starting around $16
What you'll find
- Earrings for every style. Big rotating racks are stocked with hoops, studs, dangles, and statement pairs in gold, silver, pearls, turquoise, and bold colors. Look for fun finds like red, white, and blue ice cream cone earrings and daisies for flower lovers.
- Rings galore. Trays are filled with rings set with turquoise, amethyst, opal-style stones, and pink and blue gems.
- Necklaces. Choose from layered gold chains and shell pendants, beaded strands in coral and pearl, and bold statement collars in pink, green, and turquoise.
- Bracelets and bangles. Beaded and stretch bracelets, charm bracelets, chunky chain links, pearls, and cuffs are ready to stack.
Why shoppers love it
- Unique. Hand-picked and often one of a kind, so you won't see the same piece on everyone else.
- A good story. Many pieces have a history, and each is ready for its next chapter.
- Great value. Prices start at just $8.
- Easy gifts. There's something for a birthday, a holiday, or just because.
Tips for shopping the collection
