Handcrafted Wood Decor & Carving Classes in Virginia Beach and Yorktown

Learn Real Carving: Hands-On Class on November 1

If you want to step away from screens and create something with your own hands, come learn the trade.

Richard Christy of Buck Island Bay Mercantile is hosting an in-person Wood Carving Workshop on Sunday, November 1.

No digital files, no automated machines. You will work with traditional hand carving tools, learn how to read wood grain so your piece does not fracture, and practice controlled relief cuts. You show up to an empty bench, shape a raw block of timber, and head home with a finished carving you actually made yourself.

Spots are capped to so everyone gets the instruction they need.  Register through our website or stop by the front counter in Yorktown or Virginia Beach to claim a bench.
